FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You can find our most frequently asked questions below. However, if you still can’t find the answer to your question, please get in touch, and we’ll get back to you.

HOW lONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE A TRANSLATION?

This varies with the language, the length and technicality of the text. On average we would say that a linguist can translate up to 2500 words a day and proof read up to 8000 words a day. There is the possibility of increasing this for an urgent request but quality would only then be suitable for internal purposes.

HOW DO YOU CHARGE?

For translation and proof reading we base our quotes on the source text word count. For desktop publishing we charge based on the number of hours required to complete the work. You can find our rate card here to give you a more detailed idea however to give you an accurate quote we will always request to see the document first.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE LANGUAGES YOU WORK IN?

For translation and proof reading we base our quotes on the source text word count. For desktop publishing we charge based on the number of hours required to complete the work. You can find our rate card here to give you a more detailed idea however to give you an accurate quote we will always request to see the document first.

HOW CAN I JOIN YOUR DATABASE OF TRANSLATORS?

We are always looking for exceptional linguists to join our talent network, please feel free to send your CV via our careers page.

WHAT FORMATS CAN YOU TRANSLATE FROM?

We can translate from basically anything such as word documents, powerpoints, PDFs or InDesign packages. We have desktop publisher experts on hand to help us crest an editable format for the translator to work from then we will re create the layout once it has been translated.

WHY DOES MY DOCUMENT NEED TO BE PROOFREAD AS WELL?

Although we request that the translator delivers us a high quality accurate translation if your document is being used externally we recommend a second proof read by an additional linguist as they might have some preferential changes or spot something that the translator has over looked.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRANSLATION AND TRANSCREATION?

Translation is the standard process for documents resorting legal, medical or technical subject matters however transcreation is more commonly used for marketing texts. For example when idioms are translated literally they probably won't make sense in another language so would have to be re created to something with a similar meaning.

WHAT IS LOCALISATION?

Localisation is the process of adoption, adapting a text to a specific country or region for example US English to UK English.

HOW CAN I SEND MY DOCUMENT IF IT IS BIGGER THAN MY EMAIL SERVER ALLOWS?

We can accept documents from WeTransfer and Dropbox.

HOW CAN YOU GUARANTEE 100% SATISFACTION?

We will always do our upmost to keep our clients satisfied from the moment a quote is requested. If you the client is not completely satisfied with your translation you have a review period of 5 days to raise any concerns. We will then amend and review the translation by a second linguist in order to solve any issues that we feel don't meet our high level of standards.
